I started off opening an account with Betfair (please follow link open an account) which I thoroughly advise as they have the most liquid of the exchange markets for laying bets. The other option is to open a betdaq account.

Bet 1 - Corals (£10 Free)
Corals offered a free-bet of £10 once you had placed £10 of your own money. I found odds at Corals on Wimbledon '08 of Hewitt to win his first road match at 1.05 and was able to lay this off at betfair at odds of 1.06. This gave me a loss of 12 pence on my Qualifying bet.

I looked to place my free bet at Corals bearing in mind the T&C on the free bet were that Corals would return their stake (i.e. if your bet wins you would be allowed the winnings,and the free-£10 stake), you would also have to turn-over your free-bet 5 times (i.e. you could not withdraw any of your free bet winnings until you have placed 5 £10 bets). Therefore in order to get round this it is better to lose your bet with Corals and win the lay at betfair so the free money ends up in your betfair account after the first bet, and you do not have to place 5 further matches to release your money. Therefore I looked for higher odds bets that matched. The problem with higher odds bets are that they can be more difficult to match.
I found a match with a profit of £8.83. I bet on Rosenburg to beat Aalesunds in the Norwegian Tippeligaen football league with Corals at odds of 8.5 and laid it with betfair at 9.2. Therefore from my first full matched bet I made a profit of £8.83. Not bad I thought, for my first matched bet.

I used Corals as my first matched bet as they only offered a £10 free bet. I advise doing as many of the smaller free bets first £10-£25 until you are fully happy with what you are doing before doing the larger ones, when you are fully confident and making the most of each matched bet.
